I’m giving this review because it’s only the name is afghan cuisine restaurant but the food is not from Afghanistan it’s very different and not test like afghan foods either
Kabuli pulao was good, meat was flavorful. We ordered the Kabuli pulao served with 2 meat skewers and two small desserts (rice pudding) that came after..this was apparently serving for two and costed $95.We were excited to try this restaurant but service was terrible. Our server was nice but she did not check on us even once after bringing our food. I found a long black hair buried in the rice; we hadn’t even take the first bite! it was gross so I look up and our server was not making eye contact and instead she brings her food and starts eating on a table nearby! So we’re just sitting and waiting but no other server is checking on us and the owner was standing on the table right next to us the whole time, and wouldn’t stop talking to the people on that table. he Kept on talking loudly and not caring about other customers. Finally after some time , we get noticed, I tell the owner about the issue, he then goes back to kitchen bringing us another plate of rice. Cool. Human error, life goes on. So now as we’re getting ready to eat, owner tells us no-one has black hair so we don’t know how it got here, implying that it was ours. I got frustrated and I told him, it’s not ours either. After that, the staff kept ignoring us, didn't check on us, we had to flag them down to get us dessert and check.Botton line is food was OK, service definitely needs work.I will avoid this restaurant due to extremely poor service.
Kabul Restaurant in Seattle is a true gem! The Kabuli Pulav is outstanding—each grain of rice is packed with flavor. The Afghani bread served with mushrooms is a unique and fresh delight. And if you love cardamom, their phirni is hands down the best in town! The ambience is perfect for a relaxed dinner with friends, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff is incredibly friendly, and you can expect at least one pleasant conversation with either your server or the owner. Their hospitality makes the dining experience even more special.Highly recommend this place for authentic Afghan cuisine and a welcoming vibe!
5/5 stars! This hidden gem consistently delivers exceptional food and ambiance. We're obsessed with their Kabuli Pulav (a flavorful pilaf), eggplant dish, and Firni (a decadent dessert). In my opinion, their Kabuli Pulav is the best in town!I appreciate that this is a family-owned restaurant, adding to its charm. The menu boasts an impressive selection of vegetarian and gluten-free options, making it an excellent choice for diners with dietary restrictions. We can't wait to return and indulge in more of their delicious offerings!
The service at this restaurant was excellent. However, there are significant areas for improvement in both the food quality and portion sizes. The dishes were notably unbalanced, with an excessive amount of rice overwhelming the minimal protein portions. Given the premium pricing, the value did not meet our expectations. The kitchen needs to focus on both improving the overall food quality and providing more appropriate portion sizes to justify the cost.
This is some of the best Afghani food I have had in the United States. We got the combination kebab for two which also proved to be an excellent sampler for the best dishes on the menu. The portions were generous though not excessive and we didn't leave a morsel of food left on the plate. The delicate cardamom flavouring of the firni for dessert topped off a great meal. I'm only visiting Seattle but I so wish to come again!
Lovely, welcoming spot for date night or to try new cuisine. Staff is not rushed and excited to chat with you. We had the kebab combination for two and it was just the right amount of food. The Ash was so homey tasting followed by the delicious entrees. Star of the meal was the Borani Banjan. Best eggplant dish i’ve ever had. Finally, the well-balanced, not too sweet Firni is not to be missed for dessert.
Open more than 30 years, do yourself a favor and come to Kabul! THE best lamb I have ever had in my life. The service is amazing, Wali and the team are exceptional! Will be coming back as often as they will let me!
This place has been around for 3 plus decades. Afghani food has unique flavors, and cardamom is a popular spice used in it. The food is also like a combination of Indian, Greek, and Italian cusine. Service is prompt and friendly. Depending on who your server is, accents can be heavy, which can make menu questions a bit challenging. They have several vegetarian and some vegan dishes. It has gotten a little bit pricey over the years, but what hasn't?
We took a good friend to celebrate his 70th birthday here a few weeks ago, and we all really enjoyed our experience. It had been many years since I've been here and the food is as good, if not better than it was before. The service was quick and efficient, and became more personable when Wali the owner spent time with us recommending a bottle of wine, chatting about history (personal & general), and overall being a wonderful host. EVERYTHING we ate was scrumptious, and I highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions and all the wonderful days in between.
Love the cuisine, the staff is awesome, a great place to eat. While we were there the electric went off in areas of Fredericksburg but they went above and beyond to fix us their fabulous food.
I've been here numerous times throughout my time in Seattle and every time I've gone, the food is delicious and the staff is incredibly friendly.I tried the Burta and the Bara Kebab most recently and they were outstanding.Definitely check out Kabul if you can!
Food is very unique and the service is great. The owner is extremely passionate but sometimes a little too much. But definitely one of the best Afghan places in the west coast!
We had the mushroom qorma and bolani to start. Both were delicious especially the bolani. For dinner we had the vegetarian ashak and Badenjan Borani and thoroughly enjoyed both and I got the house made hot sauce (extra hot) and be warned that it is really hot but still worthwhile because of the flavor. Dessert was perfect—baklava and cardamom tea. Overall the food was amazing but what really made this dinner so great was the staff and owner. They were so warm, friendly, and fun to talk to. I’m excited for our next trip to Seattle so we can go back!
Food was okay and the waiters were nice. But the owner (the guy in hat) was very rude and impolite. Being kind and polite seems like a trivial requirement of running a restaurant and it is surprising to see how much unprofessional the owner of this place is!
We visited this restaurant on the night before their annual vacation closure, and I must admit I wish they hadn't seated us. We waited for 15 minutes until we placed our order. Unfortunately, it took them another 10 minutes to inform us that several items we had ordered were already sold out. The food itself took over an hour to arrive, and we eventually had to take it to go. I have a strong appreciation for Kabul cuisine and genuinely want this restaurant to thrive. I just hope they would have refrained from seating us to maintain their reputation.
Absolutely wonderful restaurant!!! Get the lamb, you won’t regret it!!!! Also the dumplings were perfection, as was the eggplant which melt in your mouth. The owner was wonderful we loved chatting with him, and you could tell this was a fun family restaurant with love in each bite!
Came in at 5:30 for a dinner with friends. My friends are vegan, while I am not. The server was extremely friendly and helpful, pointing out the dishes that could be made vegan and which ones would not adapt well. The food was lovely and flavourful. I had two pots of the cardamom black tea. I have not had much exposure to Afghani cuisine but I was very impressed by what I had.We shared the Qorma-i Sabzi, Qorma-i Takari, and the Fish Qorma.
Amazing food in a very cozy and warm place. The owner, Walid, is very friendly and makes sure you're taken care of. Dishes are varied and bursting with flavor but also not heavy. Excellent house made chilli sauce to turn up the heat if needed. Great selection of wine and beer. Highly recommend. Make reservation on weekends as it does get busy. Great vegetarian and vegan choices.
Fantastic! I've heard great things about Kabul and finally went last week: they are definitely worth the hype. Very delicious food with beautiful plating, the owner was fun to talk to, and the staff were lovely. A little costly, but the price is fair and matches the quality.I'm vegetarian and the dishes I got were delicious (the eggplant, the ash soup, the pasta, and the rice). Highly recommend any of them as well as the yogurt drink if you want to try something interesting. The desserts were also fantastic. Excellent mousse!
